Family members and personnel working with military and families are often not aware of how to engage veterans with mental illnesses and addictions. HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals’ 3D Community Health are hosting free sessions for anyone who would like to recognize the signs of a mental health disorder in military members, veterans and their families. The free, one-day class teaches the common risk factors and warning signs of specific types of illnesses such as anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The session is available on two different dates and locations; choose one that works best for you:
- April 7, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Rotunda at Sacred Heart Hospital, 900 W. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire
- April 18, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – McDonald Hall at St. Joseph’s Hospital, 2661 Co Hwy I, Chippewa Falls
